The Dean’s List is an annually compiled slate showcasing exemplary artistic achievement in the realm of cinema. It exists to offset the embarrassingly elitist, ego-stroking spoils offered up by the industry.
The nominees and nonpareil of each class are selected by a single, non-industry, moviegoer, whose sole allegiance is to his own sense of taste and decency. Only an honest assessment of a picture/performance’s artistic merit will affect its awarding. Innovation and originality are key criteria for consideration. Budget and box-office returns are of no consequence.
